Greetings!

Greetings!
Last Saturday was a blessed Saturday. I met many of our Gardena members at the Super Divisional at Rowley Park. I also had the honor to listen to some wonderful key note speakers, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Congresswoman Laura Richardson and the honorable Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa who had great things to say about our beloved President, Tyrone Freeman. They each wished him a happy birthday, but leaving his age out; which I found to be funny. Along with the comic relief much was said about the support for health care and the housing crisis low income families are experiencing. President Freeman also made several references to a problem area in the city of Watts, Jordan Downs Project.

Jordan Downs; located in the city of Watts is a 700-unit housing project. It also houses LA’s most notorious gang Grape Street Crips, but among those who seek to destroy Jordan Downs about 500 of our Union Family Members reside as well. President Freeman is seeking to tear these units down, with the assistance of the city of Los Angeles, and rebuild them with homes that residents can be proud to call home. He seeks to rebuild not replace residents.

Ground Breaking Event
A great example of what President Freeman is seeking to do for Jordan Downs he is currently doing through the Housing Trust in the city of Compton. Please join the Housing Trust, Pres. Freeman and Compton’s City council November 3, 2007 at 2pm in Compton for the Ground Breaking Ceremony of Alameda Court. This event will be on location on the corner of Alameda and Myrrh.

Alameda Court, Compton: Not long, yet!

Hello Union Family,
Good news! Many of you know developing a large community, such as the Alameda Courts in Compton, is a lengthy process. However, we are very close to finalizing the paperwork portion of the development. There is still much work to be done before we can open the doors for 28 of you colleagues; however, we are close to the fun part, building.

The the conception of Alameda Court the city of Compton has given their blessing and are looking forward to this wonderful development that will add to their great city. Please feel free to visit the city of Compton's Community Redevelopment Agency's office. Ask to see their 10 year plan. Members will see the that Compton redevelopment agency and council are bring a new outlook to the city; which will raise the value in the homes in Compton.

Also, I would like to add. Please visit me at your local Super Divisional meetings. I look forward to meeting you.

Welcome

Hello Union Family
This is the first of many blogs I will be posting for you. My name is Kenya Nelson I am the new executive director for the Long Term Care Housing Trust. In this short time of being in this position many changes have occurred thus the reason for many of you not being contacted in lue of your applications being submitted. We have implemented a new online application which is now a secured site. You are also welcome to leave a message on our voice mail, but I do ask that you leave just your name and phone number. No addresses are necessary. The longer your message the longer it takes for us to call you back. Which brings me to my next bit of information for you. This is very important. The process: 1) When you submit your information via phone, mail or email it must first be processed. Meaning we have to put it in the computer and file it. We are currently filing high volumes right now. This being the reason for the delay in call backs. 2) Your information is then given to our lending agents that will then contact you. 3) That lending agent will ask you some questions that are only between you and that agent. That private information is not even going to be given to any LTCHC reps. Always remember your credit information is sacred and should never be shared with anybody who you don't authorize. 4) The lending agent will then give you information of you ability to purchase a home. Meaning if you can be pre-approved for buying a home from LTCHC. Keep in mind LTCHC helps make the homes AFFORDABLE not FREE.

I have personally spoken to many of you who have applied and you all have some great questions. I enjoyed helping you through the process. Please continue to call and feel free to respond to the blogs. It will help me to know and serve your needs better.
Thank you
Kenya
